Nature’s Valley Rest Camp

If you haven’t already paid a visit to Nature’s Valley then what are you waiting for? You should go. Right now (or, after reading this post, at least). It is just one of those majesctic places that leaves your heart happy, your soul calm, and your mind ready to take on the world again. It is the closest you will get to heaven on earth.

And let us just get this out of the way real quick: Nature’s Valley Rest Camp is a real back-to-basics kind of campsite. Don’t be surprised if you spot a deer roaming through your campsite or a frog trying to share your shower water. If you’re looking to really connect with nature then great, carry on reading. If you’re not too keen on insects and such, this is probably not the place for you.

WHERE IS NATURE’S VALLEY REST CAMP?

Snuggled in a valley on the Western Cape side of the border between the Western and Eastern Capes. It is about 30km east of Plettenberg Bay and 40km west of Storms River Rest Camp. You will need to turn off the N2 onto the R102. The Rest Camp is situated in the Tsitsikamma National Park along the banks of the Groot River.

ACCOMMODATION

Camping and caravans Choose to either camp on a grassy site along the Groot River, or opt for a more private in-the-bush kind of site. The sites vary in size and come equipped with a braai spot, picnic bench, and complementary wood on arrival. Keep in mind that there are no power points at any of the campsites but they can be found at the nearest ablution facility.

Forest huts The forest huts at Nature’s Valley Rest Camp are currently closed for upgrades. Have a look at their website for further information.

FACILITIES

Nature’s Valley Rest Camp offers communal ablution facilities and sculleries, all equipped with power points. The ablution facilities are basic and not very large, but with hot water and a flush toilet what more would you need?

There is a main kitchen area in the middle of the Rest Camp where you will find fridges and a deep freeze; being able to keep your food and ice colder for longer is always a bonus!

Coin-operated washing machines and tumble dryers can be found by the main ablution block.

In the small town of Nature’s Valley, a two minute drive away, you will find Nature’s Valley Restaurant and Trading Store. Nature’s Valley Restaurant is a great place for a pizza and a cold one! Please note though that the shop is a bit on the pricey side; we recommend stocking up on essentials beforehand.
